Collier County Unemployment Rate Falls

The Unemployment Rate for Collier County fell to 3.8 percent in October according to data released by the Department of Economic Opportunity. This is a 25 percent reduction from the previous year when the rate was 5.1 percent. According to the Governor’s Office, the construction industry saw the highest job growth in the Naples area over the past year. Overall, the industry added 1,300 new jobs in the one-year period.

It is typical for us to see a drop in the unemployment rate as we head into season. Additionally, due to the hurricane, there have been a number of construction jobs which have been created to make repairs to homes which were damaged during the storm. Thus, the new construction jobs did contribute to the decrease in unemployment.

Ultimately, season continues to start earlier and earlier every year making Naples a phenomenal place to work and live year round.
