New Construction Increases

2-17-2015 6-29-21 AMAccording to the U.S. Census, new construction increases in both Collier and Lee counties.  The data shows both counties added 10,188 new housing units between 2010 and July 1st of 2014.  Almost half of those unites were built between 2013 and 2014.  The surge in new construction is largely due to the reduction of existing inventory.

Collier County added 5,617 new housing units from 2010 to 2014 for an estimated total of 203,070 units. Of those, 2,373 were built since 2013, according to the census data. Collier’s housing units grew nearly 3 percent since 2010, ninth fastest in the state.

Lee saw an increase of 4,571 housing units since 2010, for an estimated total of 375,682 in 2014, according to the data. Slightly more than half — 2,341, or 51 percent — were built since 2013. Lee was 22nd in the state with 1.2 percent housing growth since 2010.

There are a limited number of golf communities with new construction homes.  Some of them include – Quail West, Esplanade, The Colony, Grey Oaks and Talis Park.
